The great Tootsie Roll experiment.

Mr. Owl how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie roll Tootsie Pop? ah 1, ah 2, ahhhh 3..... :)

It doesn't take much to entertain us. We decided to stay in our jammies and explore the Tootsie Roll Tootsie pop debate.

First we headed on over to the Tootsie Roll industries and took a virtual field trip. (http://www.tootsie.com/gal_tour.php). Then we tried a little experiment ourselves....

K is ready for mom to put down the camera so he can get to business.

The baby never finished this experiment due to the fact that he had ants in his pants. Cabin fever has set in with this one so, it could be weeks before we get his conclusion.

10 years ago on this same night at 9:12 pm I gave birth to a beautiful little baby girl! She was perfect! 10 years later she is beyond perfect and makes my heart go pitter patter. She sings loudly to Beatles albums (yes the albums...her record player is her greatest love). Her room is full of construction paper and glitter due to the fact that she is a tiny little Martha Stewart wanna be. She talks a mile a minute and she giggles like a crazy person. I couldn't imagine a minute without her.

Okay, I admit it. I am a sucky blogger. I mean a really, really sucky blogger. I came back to look at my blog today and noticed dust bunnies and spider webs hanging from every corner. My life has taken over and I haven't had time to breath, let alone write a word or two.

My life has been taken over by homeschool and making a wonderful life change. We have decided to pack up our home and throw out the clutter. We are starting over in a little cabin in the woods. Our life has been hectic and out of sorts for the past year. We have decided that we need a start fresh so we can enjoy our lives to the fullest. So... our adventure will be starting in the next few weeks...*weeeeee* I'm so excited! But until then it's pretty much packing and living out of boxes. I look forward to recording our new life here and watching the change.

This is my first time trying out the fix-it friday and I had tons of fun working with this sweet little guys photo!

Okay the details of my fix- it are as follows....

First off I used my PS7.0 in order to work with this photo. Once in PS I used one of my fav-or-ITE actions from the ever cool pioneer woman. If you haven't seen her actions you really should check them out!!! The action I used on this photo was called colorized. I loved how it left the rosy tint to his little cheeks.

Somewhere over the rainbow...

Today we mixed simple household items and made our own personal rainbow. The lesson was geared towards learning about the color wheel and seeing what happens when primary colors (red, yellow and blue) are mixed together to make secondary colors. (purple, orange and green).

First we find all our ingredients and throw them out on the table....

1 cup o' milk...

carefully pour that 1 cup o' milk in the bowl...careful not to slosh...

Three drops of red food color is squirted by a squirt towards the outer edge of the milk...

Next the squirt, squirts three blue drops of food color about 1/3 away from the red....still on the outer edge.

Now we grab the yellow and get to squirting three drops 1/3 away from the blue....

See all three drops, hanging out in a bowl of milk.

Mkay...the squirt is getting restless now and a little antsy about the fact that we are playing with his all time, favorite, coolest of all drinks...Milk....

But I talk him into grabbing a bottle of dish liquid....

We plop one drop of dish liquid right smack dab in the middle of our milk....

Then we wait for the show to begin....Ooooo....Ahhhhh.....Ooooo La, La...

After a few moments we are looking at our own personal rainbow...do you see the reds, oranges, blues, purples, yellow and greens? CooOool!!!!

Now you try it!!!

I'm fairly sure that eating mashed potatoes with your face is hilarious...

I pretty much know that having it all over your face at the end is the bees knees...

I'm beyond certain that eating tiny corn with your fingers is only reserved for the coolest of people.

and I'm completely positive that my children make me laugh daily!

So yesterday while my 6 year old and I sat outside enjoying the sun, he let me in on the fact that he had an imaginary friend. His friends name was Tom and he was on the slide at that very moment cause' slidin' is his favorite thing in the whole wide world to do.

Why is his name Tom? I asked.

Because that's what he told me his name is Mom, DUHHHH!

Yeah, he threw the Duhhh at me...I deserved it!

What happens when you tell a little red headed boy that spring is right around the corner?

He wiggles his little pink toes out of his snow boots and runs out the door.

He smiles so big, that the sun can't help but shine brighter down on his beautiful red head.

He jumps for joy....

and then jumps some more.....

He counts the many wonderful blessings that come with spring.

He then jumps on his swing and tries to swing to the sun...in order to explain to her that she must stick around because, the world is so much more beautiful with her bright shiny face.

So here's the deal...two years ago I was a floppy little puddin' cup of a woman. I was best friends with little debbie and felt the love that she put into each little snack. I sucked, I was sad and I was fat! After a reality check from my doctor and the fear of one day being found dead in my pantry covered in little debbie crumbs and empty boxes I made a pact to change. I gave up the snacks. I gave up the sugar and I hopped my butt on a treadmill. I felt good. I looked good and there was no turning back. I lost 52 pounds and it was awesome! I was in the honeymoon stage.

The holidays came this year and something in my mind snapped. I was cocky! I hopped off my treadmill and hit the couch. I have since gained 16 pounds. Sixteen pounds that keep taunting me every.single.day. At first I was ignoring the pounds that were creeping up on me and figured it would be a snap to shoo them away. I upped my water intake a bit but I also upped my mac and cheese intake. My cocky stage was starting to become my defeated stage.

I am now going to throw it out there for the entire internet world. (yeah I know that no one reads this...I don't care...it's the fact that in my head it's out there for everyone to see).

I have to loose this weight. I lost the 52 pounds there is no reason in the world that I can't loose a measly 16 pounds. Sixteen pounds of pure and utter holiday bloat that went to far.

Watch out 16 pounds you are going down!!!!!

Last night I was walking through the dark house taking photos to test out my flash. (I'm exciting like that! ;)) So anyway, my oldest son thought he would be funny and sneak up behind me and interrupt my fancy smancy photo taking zen. (he's a smart aleck like that!) Well after recovering from my slight heart attack I turned and in my best mommy tone told the boy to get moving...and since he's scared of my mommy tone he went straight to bed as told. (yeah right!!!! He's a butthead like that!)

Well I guess my daughter whom was in sleeping land slumber must of caught hint of my mommy tone and heard me say "Get going!" As I walked past her room this is what I saw...

She was getting ready for school at 10:00 at night. Not only was she getting dressed but she was also putting the shirt over the pj's. No idea what was going through her little head. Her face says it all in the next photo. Goofy kids! :)

I've been cursing my post holiday bloated hiney butt all morning and angry that it won't just leave like I asked. I don't want to walk on the treadmill this morning. I don't want to dance with the perky little blonde that hangs out in my DVD player. I just want to stay in my jammies and watch mind numbing fashion TV all the while being annoyed that my post bloated hiney would not look cute with anything Stacy and Clinton tried to throw on it.

Fine...no takers...

Off to visit with the treadmill and look at that stupid little blonde who thinks I like dancing with her.

So one afternoon while getting sloshed at our favorite winery (hahaha just teasing *no I'm not*) we came across this really cool wine holder/pourer thing-a-mbob and thought it would make a really cool conversation piece, all the while holding/pouring the wine that two parents with three children so desperately need.

We've been really proud of our purchase and have used it at all get togethers etc...

So anyway one day as I sat surfing the net I came across this ad for a adult only game from the 70's.

Ummmmm Mkay! That puts a whole new meaning to conversation piece.

My name is Mellisa and I am addicted to SHOES....not just any ol' shoe. I am addicted to fancy high heel shoes. Okay to most people that may be okay but, I am a stay at home mom. A stay at home mom that wears pj's more often than not. I don't moonlite as a hollywood socialite. (I couldn't even stay up past 11pm). Most of my shoes have never seen the light of day or touched their bottoms on concrete. My shoes lead a very sheltered life. But during the day I like to go in and slip on a pair and walk through the house like I am somebody (Wow...I can't believe I just admitted that). I dream of slipping them on and being transformed to a trendy party. Complete with swag bags and men half my age that glitter in the sun. I swear when I put them on I instantly loose 10 pounds and my pj's magically transform into that trendy dress I have been swooning over on the internet. My shoes let me pretend like

a little girl and feel like a sexy woman.
